Lower Elementary (XL)
Our Lower Elementary program is for ages 6 – 9. It is focused on making sure that children in this age group are mastering the basic skills they need to be successful in all future applications. In lower elementary, children are immersed in an atmosphere where basic academic processes are taught in a way that intertwine and connect to real life. Through a blend of Culture, STEAM, Real Life Application, and Wonder Projects, students are able to utilize the academics that they are learning. Children are encouraged to express ideas and take the lead in developing their own individualized, interest-led work plan. In the afternoon, students participate in read aloud, journaling, lit circle, humanities, service and a rotation of focused topics that integrate STEAM. In the Lower Elementary we practice peace, courtesy, citizenship, organizational skills, self care and integrity.
Upper Elementary (UE)
Our Upper Elementary Program is for children ages 9 – 12. This program is focused on encouraging creativity, determination, and responsibility. In this age group, children are beginning to develop more specific interests and show a natural entrepreneurial spirit. Students follow an individual, interest-led work plan.
Students in Upper Elementary are given more responsibility and are expected to be able to develop plans and complete tasks within a group and individual setting. The basic skills that were mastered in Lower Elementary are now extended and put into action through Real Life Application, Problem Solvers Group and Giving Back to the community. In the afternoon the Lower and Upper Elementary come together for read-aloud, journaling, lit circle, humanities, service and a rotation of focused topics that integrate STEAM. Often times the Upper Elementary students become team leaders in the afternoon to help develop their communication and organizational skills. In Upper Elementary we practice peace, courtesy, citizenship, organizational skills, self-care, integrity, leadership and communication skills.
